JV Baseball Faces a Frustrating Season
Team is characterized by a tough spirit.
The Junior Varsity Batmen began their quest for the gold with high expectations and a firm determination for a successful campaign. Mother Nature and a procession of competitors did their best to crush the Brothers’ spirits
:but the team proved its will was undefeatable.
: The practice schedule was marred by unseasonably cold and very wet weather which eventually took its toll as the season progressed, contributing to numerous injuries and poor playing fields. The loss of several key players to t fill the varsity ranks also added to the woes of second
•year Coach Kevin Conroy.
Throughout this frustrating season, there were several bright spots. The pitching staff was well fortified by the strength of Tim Kelly, and the surprising response of Middle Schooler Peter Stoyan. Ryan Hartley’s speed made center field an undesireable spot for opposing hit ters. Mark Waltos, Jeff Charles, and Roger Briggs helped the veteran Louie Sacco tighten up the infield. Tony Lampuri paced the Brothers’ offensive attack with his consistent power hitting. By season’s end, the team tallied 7 wins and 10 losses, a respectable finish, all things considered.
All eyes on the ball for Terry Till as he goes for first base.
Perfect form by Tim Kel ly as he winds up against Nottingham.
