Young Varsity Squad Makes a Good Showing
First team trophy sparks Laxmen
The seasons were bookends for the Varsity Lacrosse Squad — last year witnessing a disappointing 4-9 record and a discouraging season opening loss — while this year found the stickmen in possession of a more encouraging 9-7 record and a dramatic win against Sherbourne Earl-
Brothers to slide past Rome Free Academy 10-9 and advance to the finals where they trounced S-E 8-4. CBA’s first ever trophy in lacrosse was brought home in triumph.

For starters, the squad was a young one which meant a greater ability to work together as a team. Secondly, there were several outstanding football players such as Todd Bradbury, Jack Mungovan, Mike Mathewson and Chris Millard who had great stamina for the rigors of
this spring sport. Finally, the stickmen received an impor tant shot in the arm when they dominated the Sherbourne- Earlville tournament early in the season. Advancing to semi-final play, a combination of quick thinking in the mid- field and a blanket defense in the backfield enabled the

a difficult group to defeat.
In light of the 9-7 season — CBA’s second winning
record in four years — it was doubly disappointing that league play denied the squad a chance at sectional play. At any rate, with only three lettermen graduating, the Laxmen can expect that their uphill battle for respectabil ity is over.
