enough to run in other events enabling the squad to offer a respectable challenge throughout the season.
One highlight of the season actually occurred prior to regular league competition. Led by Jeff Jurick, the dis­ tance team placed well at the 30K Chopperthon Race in Schnectady. Jurick who was rewarded with a national record for 18 year olds, broke the previous record by well
over a minute.
In the final analysis, it was the work of runners such as
Chris Shepardson, Cathal O’Connor, George Luke and Mike Roche who enabled the relay teams to gain the experience necessary for a more competitive season next year.
