Netmen Recapture Title
Huner, Chudzik, and
Cahill take home
crowns.
The 1983 Tennis Team recaptured the CNYCL Cham pionship under the guidance of Coach WIeklinski. With a league record of 6 and 0, the Brothers dominated the CNCYL tournament as well.
Bill Bergan and Rex Huner captured the 1st doubles championship and Chris Chudzik who had an undefeated season, took home the title at third singles. Pat Cahill then teamed up with Chris Chudzik to win the Section III doubles crown and they advanced to the state qualifier. Marc Bernstein, who faced the toughest competition at first singles all year, finished the season strongly with a good showing in the sectional championships. Strong serving Eric Unger picked up considerable experience at second singles, while John Sullivan’s performance with Pat Cahill provided the key win at Nottingham which sealed the league championship. Strong support from Tony DeRoberts, George Darcy, Tom Tait and Chris tian Holden combined with all the returning veterans promises another banner year in 1984.
