Varsity Lacrosse
The 1990 Lacrosse season was
a re-building year for the Broth
ers, Returning only four starters
and being left without a returning
goalie, the Brothers fought hard
and put together a 6-12 record.
Although there were twelve
losses, six of those were by a one
or two goal margin. Second team
All-League attack man John M ar
shall led the team in total points
for the year, and also set two
school records for a single game.
They were for most assists, with
10, and most points, with 11.
Honorable Mention All-League
attack man Paul Goggi was usu
ally on the receiving end of Mar
shall' s
assists.
The defense was headed by
second team All-League Dan
Aboud. Between Aboud and
defenseman Leo Massaro, it was
very tough for opposing offenses
to score. The defense shut out
arch-rival Bishop Ludden 7- 0.
The Brothers return with prac
tically their entire starting line-up
intact, and will be a top con
tender in the 1991 season. The
team will be looking to returning
co-MVP's Dan Aboud and John
Marshall to lead the way.
Track
The 1990 Outdoor Track sea
son was a mixture of team frus
tration and defeat, balanced by
individual success and victory.
Coached by Jasper Royal, the
team, although going 0-9 in meets,
was able to send the following
individuals to Sectionals: Justin
Vianese, 1600 meters, Pete
Cuenca, 400 meter hurdles,
Sherwood Seward, long jump.
and Matt Demlin, 800 meters.
Adding to the team's frustra
tions were a series of nagging
injuries to stars Jeremy Bialek,
John McKeon, and Justin Vi
anese. Some saw a lack of com
mitment on the part of some team
members as a chronic problem al
so. All in all, the returning team
looks forward to better days in
1991.
