Varsity Football
Varsity football took center stage
in September as the Brothers took to
the field in search of glory and vic
tory. The season was a mixed bag
of success and disappointment. Vic
tories over Phoenix and Mexico were
tempered by bitter losses to teams
such as Westhill, which spoiled CBA's
Homecoming by defeating the Broth
ers 19-14.
One noticeable feature of the
seoson was the return of what many
observers referred to as the CBA
'Pride' or 'Spirit'. Some said it hadn't
been seen much on the football field
in the past few seasons, but that the
1990 CBA football team certainly
brought it back. It was especially no
ticeable at the aforementioned
Homecoming contest, which was
witnessed by a near-capacity crowd
at beautiful Alibrandi Stadium. It was
a very exciting contest, featuring out
standing performances by Senior Bill
"The Missile" Marsallo, who ran
for 141 yards, and Junior quarter
back Jack Mantione, who led the
Brothers on a would-be winning drive
as time ran out at the Westhill 16.
All football fans in the CBA com
munity are proud of the 1990 squad,
and look forward to bigger and bet
ter things in the coming years. Go
