Hoop Highlights
The 1990-91 Christian Brothers
Academy Varsity Boys' Basketball
team can really be divided into two
seemingly different seasons. Surviv
ing the first six games of the team's
new campaign, the Brothers went a
disappointing one and six, marked by
close losses to Metro rival Corcoran,
and a disheartening overtime defeat
to Cortland.
However, with the return of 1989-
90 All-Upstate Player Guard Brian
Satalin, the CBA hoopsters resur
rected themselves. In the next six
games, the Brothers went five and
one, highlighted by a Christmas
Tournament win over state ranked
Westhill High School. This dramatic
turnabout poised the Brothers for a
berth in the Section Three Class C
Tournament.
The word that could be used to
describe the 1990-91 team is deter
mination. Coach Buddy WIeklinski
instilled a work ethic which could be
seen in the team's practices, which
were often as intense as the games.
The 1990-91 Varsity Basketball
team reinstituted the feeling of the
tradition of excellence most often as
sociated with CBA sports.
Jamie Howell attempts a shop from the side.
Leo Massaro and Craig Hitchcock move in
for the rebound.
Rob Hunt tries to gain control of the ball while
his teammate distracts the opponent. CBA's
basketball players were always there for each
other.
