Brothers Dominate League; Take On Europe
When the Brothers decided to pass up sec tional play for a European hockey tour, they decided that the only thing left to do was win a divisional championship. They not only did just that. The icemen posted a dominating 11-0-1 league record and maintained a top 10 state ranking through out the season. The league leading offense, led by seniors Tom Benzel, John Koch, and co-captain Joe Miller, helped the Brothers
to victories o f 8-1 over Baldwinsville, 10-3 over Bishop Cunningham, and an 11-3 thrashing over archrival Bishop Ludden. The defensive effort was led by co-captain Steve Ahlquist, M ark Herron, and stand out goalie Reid Heiser, who combined to allow a league low 2.0 goals against per game. The Brothers “never-say-die” atti
tude, which brought them from behind in several contests, led the team to an aston ishing 15-3-1 overall record, which was one o f the best in Section Three. The Brothers will remember the 1987-88 hockey season as one o f the finest in school history, and with 12 returning lettermen, the future looks just as bright.
