Only after you receive your concealed carry permit in the mail can you begin carrying your firearm. I say this because a few years ago, I received a phone call from a woman who told me she was very concerned about her husband. She told me that her husband had attended my course, folded up his certificate of completion and placed it in his wallet. “He’s walking around with a gun. I don’t think this is legal, but he won’t listen to me,” she said in a very concerned voice.
Obviously, I wasn’t clear enough when I explained to this man that the certificate is required to apply for a permit, but it does not give you a right to carry a gun.
