From our Team Coordinator
“The true beauty of music is that it connects people. It carries a message, and
we, the musicians, are the messengers.” — Roy Ayers
Have you experienced this as a Sweet Adeline? Have you been connected to others? Connected to
others you sing with? Connected to your director? And one of the best connections is with the audience
– the very persons we are performing for. When that happens, I know I leave the performance with a
full heart, grateful that I was able to touch another’s heart with my song.
As Sweet Adelines, we have gone through some very challenging times. We are now moving forward
and re-establishing ourselves and our choruses. We are learning what it means to be a Sweet Adeline in
2022. We still face and will continue to face challenges such as health and safety issues, rising costs for
rent, fewer active members and even snowy weather on rehearsal nights. But we are also experiencing
opportunities to perform again, holiday shows, persons interested in joining our choruses and singing
together with our choruses. We are connecting!
I am encouraged to see so many choruses participating in the Ignite the Sound membership campaign
and so many shows happening. Remember that your Regional Management Team is always available to
chat and help as needed. We are also looking for Region 1 members who may be interested in serving
on the RMT in the future. Have you thought about taking on a small role to start? We have several
positions available to serve the Region. Talk to anyone on the RMT. We want to connect!
There are many celebrations in the coming weeks – celebrations of faith and celebrations of family and
friends. I wish you all joy, laughter, friendships and the connection that music brings.
