                                From our Education Coordinator

REGION 1 We are back in business!
Colors of Harmony 2022 was terrific! It was so great to see faces, catch up on life and do something
“normal”! Martini was terrific – 4 wonderful humans who sing like gangbusters and they entertained and
educated all weekend. They let us know that they were as happy to be a part of us as we are to have them
part of Region 1 …And we now move onward to …
WINTER 1-DERLAND 2023 in Newport! I sure hope you are coming! Michael Gellert, Master 700
Director of Harbor City Music Company and Katie Blackwood, Master Director of Liberty Oak Chorus
                th
(2022 10 place chorus!) are the faculty and have some interesting classes for you. And – they each are
going to direct a song on the Saturday night show with YOU on the risers! You will have a rehearsal with
each of them during the day – how cool to sing for and be “rehearsed” by such talented people! And the
Clubhouse is back – for “any group” not just quartets, 2 songs max! Ya gotta come!

AND – stay tuned for July 2023! We are planning a FOUR PART FRENZY DAY! It is all day Tag
Singing with anyone and everybody. The challenge – who can sing with EVERYONE!! That’s the goal.
Maybe you’ll find yourself some future quartet personnel, maybe you’ll learn a couple of parts to get a
fuller experience. There will be 5 “Regional” Tags that everyone will learn beforehand and then we will
organize some warmups and some run-throughs…and then it’s off to the races. It will be a Saturday –
location to be determined. I hope you keep your eye posted on that – we are in the middle of finding a
venue! Should be so much fun! More details to come!

AND – Colors of Harmony 2023 will feature Ryan Heller as Faculty. Ryan is presently the Director of
Alamo Metro Chorus and was the Director of the perennial top 10 chorus Pride of Portland. You will hear
more of that after Winter 1-Derland! Details to come

AND IF THAT’S NOT ENOUGH!!! – Winter 2024 – Winter 1-Derland will be 2 separate Saturday
Education events instead of the 1 full weekend event. Trying something new. From the feedback I’ve had,
about traveling, weather, etc. I’m working on having a more northerly Saturday in January and a more
southerly Saturday in February. You can go to both, you can go to one. And Christine and I may need your
help finding venues Again more details to come!

See, once you let the Education Team out of the house, we go crazy!
And please, please fill out evaluation forms. They give me valuable feedback on what you would like for
your Regional Education. Some things will work, some won’t but we are at a beginning – a post pandemic
life and we can shake things up – So please fill out those evaluation forms!
