Fritos, Doritos, Bugles, tortilla chips, or potato chips

Pick one. A 9-ounce bag will make plenty of crunchy topping. Crush

the chips right inside the bag using a rolling pin (vent the bag first by
cutting a small opening or the bag will go POW!).

                                                 ROCKY ROAD

                                                 Makes 2 to 3 cups

                Mini chocolate chips

Mini marshmallows, snipped into four pieces with lightly oiled scissors

                Cracker Jack

                Mini M&M’s

                Toffee bits

                Tiny nonpareils
                Toasted coconut flakes

                Candied ginger

                Candied orange peel

                Chocolate espresso beans

                Salted, even smoked, almonds

                Valrhona chocolate pearls

                Tiny caramels
                Little peanut butter cups

Mix and match as many or as few of the items listed here as you like.
It takes about 2 to 3 cups to thickly cover a pie. One cup will scatter
across the top of a rich pie, such as Grande Mocha Cappuccino Slab
                Pie (here).
