MALTED MILK CUPCAKES

One Saturday I offered up a half dozen different cupcakes created for kids to my
own personal panel of experts (my three children); my husband walked by,
spotted this one, and declared it his hands-down favorite. It is gorgeous, with
milk chocolate chips inside, and it bakes up big and pretty in the pan. On top is a
creamy frosting flavored with malted milk. For added crunch, sprinkle crushed
malted milk candy balls over the frosting just before serving.
MAKES 22 TO 24 CUPCAKES (2½ INCHES EACH)
PREPARATION TIME: 20 MINUTES
BAKING TIME: 18 TO 20 MINUTES
ASSEMBLY TIME: 10 MINUTES
24 paper liners for cupcake pans (2½-inch size)
1 package (18.25 ounces) plain yellow cake mix
1 box (3.8 ounces) instant chocolate pudding mix
1 cup sour cream
⅓ cup vegetable oil
¼ cup water
¼ cup sugar
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk chocolate chips
