Overall Impact to
General Clinic Design
A picture is worth a thousand words, which is why room layouts are helpful
and a complement to the conversion checklists. Converting a room to be
telehealth-compatible may present some changes in furniture and equipment
placement or orientation. Similarly, understanding how all of the components
relate to one another is best illustrated than in bullet form. Orientation
and placement of equipment and furniture create opportunities for patient
privacy, reduced glare and shadows, clutter-free video areas, branding,
conversation, and collaboration.
By designing the room layouts this way, providers can work efficiently and still
provide great patient care and experiences while achieving positive patient
outcomes. These layouts are intended to be used as a guide for the average
room conversion to telehealth. We understand that not all exam rooms are
created equal and that your solution may be slightly different but should
follow these general principles.
