Geanna Culbertson, author of the Crisanta
Knight series, visited Broome High School on
February 21. She spoke to English classes and
Broome High School
the creative writing class about her journey as a
writer and how she developed the Crisanta
Knight series. Ms. Culbertson allowed for a
period of questions from the students and
faculty. During the workshop, the students
enthusiastically participated in an original writing
activity.

Students in Jana Calvert's AP Human
Geography class at, Broome High School,
recently completed a project where they each
choose a food item that is commonly eaten
or produced in particular country. They had to
research how the food related the topics and
vocabulary terms they had covered and present
their findings to the class. They had a very
tasty international food fair displaying all of their
research!

Cowpens Elementary School

Students at Cowpens
Elementary School were
delighted to find that their shirts
shared the Character Word of
the Month, Kindness.

Liseth Morales, a Cowpens Elementary School third
grader, won a Wal-Mart gift card when her name was
drawn for Cougars Caught Reading.
