Staff andd Physiciaan Engageement Suurveys


               Background Information:
               The Excellent Care for All Act (ECFAAA) requires all Ontario hosspitals to connduct staff and physician
               engagemeent surveys a minimum off every two yeears. In healthhcare, there iis strong evidence that
               demonstrrates the relattionship betwween engagemment and pattient care outtcomes, including an increase
               in quality of care and ppatient‐centered care.

               The purpoose of engageement surveyys is to help organizations understand the key constrructs that drivve
               their peopple’s level of engagement and to identify strengths aand areas of opportunity. All three parttner
               organizations have a history of condducting thesee surveys; howwever with vaarying cycles and approach
               (see appeendix A for summary of surrveying timeliines).

               Harmonizzed Approachh & Next Stepps:
               In an effort to create consistency annd alignment of staff and pphysician enggagement surrveys across tthe
               network, a harmonizedd strategy andd implementaation plan waas endorsed in November 2017. The
               purpose oof the pulse survey is to gaain a snapshott view of stafff and physiciaan engagemeent across thee
               network aand to provide each individdual site withh detailed repports of their respective enngagement leevels.
               Although a high level rreport, the puulse survey is intended to:
                   1.  Assist new leaddership and CCEO gain an uunderstandingg of the curreent drivers of staff and
                       physician engaagement
                   2.  Iddentify themees and opporttunities to foccus attention and enhancee overall stafff and physiciaan
                       engagement across the nettwork
                   3.  Seerve as a poinnt of discussioon to inform leadership deecisions acrosss the networrk moving forrward

               Key steps toward harmmonization inccluded:
                   •  All three partnner organizations joining Stt. Joseph’s Heealth Centre’ss (SJHC) activve contract wiith
                       M Metrics@Work to create sccaling opportuunities and;
                   •  All partner orgganizations joining SJHC’s pplanned staff f and physician pulse surveey scheduled from
                       Feebruary 26 – March 16, 20018 for a unifiied network‐wwide staff and physician ppulse survey

               Metrics@@Work is the ssurvey vendor of record foor many of ouur peer groupps within the GGTA and jointt
               centres annd also providdes hospital ssector benchmmarking data. Results of thhe Network‐WWide Staff and
               Physician Engagement survey will bbe available too Senior Leadders in April 2018.
