It  is  a  change  in  the  statistical
     distribution  of  weather  patterns  over  a

     prolonged  period  of  time  (decades  to
     millions  of  years).  It  may  refer  to  a
     change         in      the      average          weather

     conditions  or  in  the  meteorological
     weather  variation  of  the  conditions

     Long-term  average  (for  example,  more
     or  less  extreme  weather  events).  It  is
     caused  by  factors  such  as  biotic

     processes,  variations in solar  radiation
     received  by  the  Earth,  plate  tectonics

     and  volcanic  eruptions.  Certain  human
     activities  have  also  been  identified  as
     the  main  cause  of  recent  climate

     change, often called global warming.
