maneuvers, and understand the theory behind gaming. The game of business is a slow play,
and competitors must build a solid foundation in order to rise like a legend. The wrong short
Bcuts, shoddy workmanship, and a lack of basic knowledge will cause you to lose.
Hello, my name is Laurette Lee and I am the CEO of Phoenix Career Development, where we
help clients build more satisfying professional lives and write a flawless script to start building the
dream career.
Just as business has unique features, advantages, and benefits, it also has unique challenges.
My second year in business started with me feeling overwhelmed because of the 20 new missions
in this game of business. While I’m grateful for “round one”, it also taught me how to network,
network, and network again.
I now understand that the big bosses are not the enemy; they are simply at a higher
level. If we put in the reps of networking, we build relationships, and eventually
round two becomes round three, round four and so on until we are networking
with the big boss. We might want to “cheat code” and get ahead faster, but at the
end of the day, we must put in the work.
Now, it’s 2021 and I’m in “round two” of my business. Because I’m putting
in the work, people know, like, and trust me. Being a business owner during
nuclear winter 2020 felt like being Atlas in Greek mythology, holding up the
sky for eternity. Through networking, people are starting to refer my services,
and maybe I can put the heavy burden of last year down.
