GUEST FOCUS GROUP RESPONSES
Is there anything we are forgetting to ask that you
would like to tell us about the LTHC and the ser-
vices they offer?
● LTHC should take the time and evaluate
some of the landlords they work with be-
cause they are shady. There are bad apart-
ments and they’re too expensive. The city
allows landlords to rob the people of money.
Housing is important for success and good
landlords help but they’re all shady right now.
It escalates when there is not the right set-
up. “You” can have disability but need more
money for all of the other costs of living.
LTHC should find basic housing and expand
with just the simple things like what they are
doing on H Street. They should have a time
frame for people to stay there and get HUD
certificates to keep people off the street.
Can’t keep separating fathers from sons.
Boys need guidance from their fathers.
● Need to provide more than just a service
and get out. There’s a specific process of be-
ing successful. People need work first, then
housing. If it’s the other way around, then
there is no confidence that the landlord will
let them stay without job. Also, there are a
lot of single fathers but more resources for
single mothers. There needs to be more re-
sources for single fathers who are struggling
with their children. They have to pay child
support and rent and it’s hard. Need more
aid for single fathers to encourage them to
take on more responsibility like they should
and help them provide, but the system dis-
criminates against men to keep them from
providing.
