Community/Family/Support

Family/Support was explored so that we could understand what help they might have outside of LTHC workers.
Community is a code because it shows what kind of environment the participants live in. When observing the inter-
actions between participants in our focus groups, we noticed a strong sense of community and camaraderie. They
shared many jokes with one another and seemed to know each other well. This is most likely a result of their living
arrangements. Permanent supportive housing brings together a group of people who have gone through similarly
difficult situations in their lives. This allows them to understand each other and gives them the opportunity to form
a close knit support system. In many cases, the participants’ families were no longer around for various reasons and
they seem to have found a new family within the LTHC community.
