FUTURE RESEARCH DIRECTIONS
Recommend Research Directions
While this catalog of publics is a helpful guide to help guide public relations(hips) management for LTHC, it can be
expanded to provide an even more comprehensive understanding of the mission-critical publics for LTHC and how
those relationships can be improved to help the organization more fully realize its mission. A few key publics should
be included in any catalog revision or expansion:
1. Donors: While the Fall 2017 class had hoped to reach members of this public for in-
terviews and focus groups, there simply was not enough time to complete this work.
2. Volunteers: While the Fall 2017 class had hoped to reach members of this public
for interviews and focus groups, there simply was not enough time to complete this
work.
3. Other Agencies: LTHC works closely with other social service agencies in Tippe-
canoe County and those relationships are vital to its continued work. Understanding
the relationships between LTHC and other agencies is an important area of consid-
eration.
4. Churches: Likewise (as some employees identified), local churches work closely with
LTHC in volunteering and support roles. Understanding the relationships between
LTHC and local churches is an important area for consideration.
Housing Insecurities and Homelessness
in Tippecanoe County: An Awareness and Attitudes Survey
Although it was not originally part of the research plan, after members of the Fall 2017 Data Design Team met with
Jennifer Shook, they decided to create a survey to measure awareness of and attitudes towards housing insecurity
and homelessness in Tippecanoe County. When the survey was finalized, however, the entire PR for Social Change
class agreed that the timing was not right to distribute the survey because (1) it was nearing the time of year when
non-profits would be reaching out frequently to their publics with year-end fundraising appeals and it could get lost
in the shuffle of a busy season and (2) there was not sufficient time for the class to distribute the survey, collect the
responses, and analyze the data before the semester’s end. The class decided that it would be best to polish the survey
so that it would be ready for future classes or interns with LTHC to conduct.
The survey is copied on the following pages and available as a Google form online at the following URL:
