Content Managers
Within the Region, staff has been given the responsibility of creating and updating web content for their program areas. These staff are known as “Content Managers”. When Content Managers create or update their web pages, they submit them for approval and their pages are either approved and posted to the website within 24 hours or rejected and returned to the author with an explanation.
Content Managers should refer to the “Region of Waterloo Website Manual” for instructions on how to create and edit web pages in Lotus Notes.
The following website approval checklist has been created for Content Managers to ensure that their web pages are approved and posted.
Visual
Does the article have a uniform corporate look?
• Web content font is Arial 9
• Ensure that the content is properly spaced for ease of reading on the Web.
• If possible, ensure that vertical spacing is minimized to prevent excessive scrolling.
Graphics
Are the graphics on the page appropriate?
• Consider the visual size of the graphic/picture/chart. Is it too small? Is it too large? Does it skew
the page format?
• Consider the file size of the picture. Will it take those on dial-up a long time to load the page
because of the size of the graphics?
• Are the graphics appropriate to the article?
• Ensure all of your pictures have alternative tags or “alt. tags” that can be read by electronic web
readers for the visually impaired.
