Content
• Ensure that the content or updates to the content have been approved and signed off by appropriate Managers or Supervisors.
• Where appropriate, is there a contact staff person’s name, telephone number or e-mail address in the content of the page?
• Has the content on the page been written with appropriate language?
• Avoid the use of colloquial language.
• Are there any unidentified acronyms in the content?
• Ensure that you run a spell check on the article content before submitting it for approval.
• If changing or updating existing content, please remember to indicate in the “Description of
Changes” section what you changed in the content (ie: repaired broken links, corrected spelling, updated content).
Links
• When linking to internal pages or external sites, check if the links work before submitting the document for approval.
• Is the external link appropriate to the article?
• Does the external link take the viewer to inappropriate sites exposing them to excessive or
inappropriate pop ups?
• While it is appropriate to link your article to external not-for-profit or government sites, it is not
appropriate to link your article to for profit businesses. Should an occasion arise where you feel it is essential to the web page for the external link to a for profit site, please consult the Director of Corporate Communications for approval at 519-575-4408.
Regional News Section (on the front page)
• The Regional News section is reserved for media releases only.
• News releases usually expire in the Regional News section one week after they were released to
the media. (Releases may remain up longer under special circumstances surrounding the news
release)
• Posting to the Regional News section on the main web site should be done by
Corporate Communications staff. Please call 519-575-4008 if you need assistance with this.
