• It is part of the Student Relationship Management (SRM) project at Unisa.
• The ISLs are currently authorised users of eGain and are familiar with the system.
• The integration of eGain with the Student System & Oracle is part of the SRM project.
During 2019, in close collaboration with ICT, a Literature Search Request Form was developed using Microsoft Of ce 365, to be used by Unisa students and staff to request literature searches via myUnisa. Now, completed literature search request forms submitted by clients are channeled directly into eGain. The rst phase, which involved the implementation of the system for students, was completed in December 2019. Processes are now fully electronic within eGain. The second phase, which will link the form for staff, will be implemented in early 2020.
6.2. DSPACE Upgrade 6.3.
The UnisaIR system was upgraded to Dspace Version 6.3 to pave the way for the development of new improved functionality. A webinar, Virtual Community Call for South African DSpace Users, was hosted for South African Dspace Users. Topics addressed were Dspace and interoperability. The recording of the webinar is available from this link. The online South African DSpace User Group was established to provide a platform for a community of practice for South African Dspace users where they can collaborate by sharing information about their activities.
6.3. Launching the Unisa Institutional Data Repository
Unisa announced the Unisa Data Repository powered by Figshare during July 2019. The Unisa Data Repository will showcase Unisa’s research data to the global audience and increase visibility for Unisa researchers, as well as validating research data for credibility. Unisa researchers are enabled, through Unisa Data Repository on Figshare:
• To comply with policies and mandates around open research by funders
• To get credit, through data citation using the persistent Digital Object Identi ers assigned to the data set in the Unisa Data repository
• To visualise their data in the browser. Over 1,200 le types are visualized in the browser
• To increase engagement with the data while measuring usage impact through the views, downloads, citations, and Altmetrics tracker.
