Vibratory Feeding System Replaces Auger
Filler for Fragile Sweetening Product
Manufacturer of no calorie sweetener products expe-
rienced unfavorable reactions when attempting to fill
packages using a conventional auger filler. Changes in
the product’s density resulting from the auger filling
process inhibited the proper performance of the
sweetening agent. As an alternative, All-Fill proposed a
multiple-position, dual head Vibratory Feeding system
that preserved the density and physical characteristics
of the product.
In order to meet the desired production rates and
total filling amounts, two filling heads, each with three
filling positions were designed. Each filling position
includes a vibrating pan dispensing product into a
loadcell-equipped weigh bucket. Weight values from
each position are summed until the preset target
weight value attained. A transition hopper located
below the filling positions accumulates product during
the vibratory fill cycles. A flapper gate discharge pro-
vides clean, controlled dispensing into the container.
Product is delivered to the vibrating pans from two
supply hoppers. An integral horizontal screwfeeder
provides a constant supply of product to the hoppers
from a bulk source. As with every offering of All-Fill,
the system is controlled by a convenient touch
screen control panel and in-house developed control
software.
