        Vibratory Feeding System Replaces Auger


        Filler for Fragile Sweetening Product





                                                                    Manufacturer of no calorie sweetener products expe-
                                                                    rienced unfavorable reactions when attempting to fill
                                                                    packages using a conventional auger filler. Changes in
                                                                    the product’s density resulting from the auger filling
                                                                    process inhibited the proper performance of the
                                                                    sweetening agent. As an alternative, All-Fill proposed a
                                                                    multiple-position, dual head Vibratory Feeding system
                                                                    that preserved the density and physical characteristics
                                                                    of the product.

                                                                    In order to meet the desired production rates and
                                                                    total filling amounts, two filling heads, each with three
                                                                    filling positions were designed. Each filling position
                                                                    includes a vibrating pan dispensing product into a
                                                                    loadcell-equipped weigh bucket. Weight values from
                                                                    each position are summed until the preset target
                                                                    weight value attained. A transition hopper located
                                                                    below the filling positions accumulates product during
                                                                    the vibratory fill cycles. A flapper gate discharge pro-
                                                                    vides clean, controlled dispensing into the container.

                                                                    Product is delivered to the vibrating pans from two
                                                                    supply hoppers. An integral horizontal screwfeeder
                                                                    provides a constant supply of product to the hoppers
                                                                    from a bulk source. As with every offering of All-Fill,
                                                                    the system is controlled by a convenient touch
                                                                    screen control panel and in-house developed control
                                                                    software.
