Vibratory Feeding of Gasket
Compound Manufacturer of knitted wire mesh sealing products uses
proprietary powder material during molding process. Product
was dispensed with old, obsolete feeders and offline scale
that was no longer supported by the supplier. Customer con-
tacted All-Fill for a replacement/upgrade strategy.
All-Fill responded with a custom design suited to the unique
requirements of the application with its Model VF-100
Vibratory Feeder for precise fill-to-weight operation.
The Model VF-100 includes a vibratory Product Feeder
used to move product from the hopper to the container. The
Feeder consists of a Trough and Trough Bracket coupled by
leaf springs to an electromagnetic drive. Product is distrib-
uted to the Product Feeder from a central hopper mounted
at the top of the frame. A movable Discharge Gate at the
front regulates the initial amount of product fed into the
vibratory Product Feeder. This gate can be adjusted for opti-
mum product flow. A hinged hopper cover allows product to
be re-supplied from a bulk source and visual inspection of
product. The hopper also provides a mounting location for a
Level Control instrument to generate a signal to external
equipment when hopper level is detected as low.
Product dispensed by the Product Feeders is deposited into
the Weigh Bucket assembly for weighing and final filling into
the container. A strain gage loadcell mounted beneath the
Weigh Bucket determines weight and, when attained, the air
cylinders actuate to open the Bucket.
Product dispensed into the Weigh Bucket can be re-directed
if detected weight does not attain or exceeds a user-select-
ed Target Weight by the Diverter Transition Hopper and
moving Diverter Plate. During operation, if detected weight
does not match the target, a rotary air cylinder actuates to
deflect product emptied from the Weigh Bucket to a reject
area.
All major functions of the Model VF-100 Vibratory Feeder
are performed at the Control Panel. This panel includes a
custom-programmed Touch Screen Panel that provides
menus, selections, settings, and controls used to test,
adjust, and operate the equipment, as well as switches and
indicator lamps used in machine operation.
