RCPA FOUNDATION
8
The RCPA Foundation is a registered charity which actively invests in initiatives that help gain a greater understanding of the causes of disease. This is achieved by fostering research within the College, offering a number of Grants and Awards each year. There is a competitive application process open to Fellows, Faculty Fellows and Trainees and independently assessed by the very hard-working Grants sub-committee chaired by A/Prof Beverley Rowbotham.
I am delighted to report the Foundation was able to offer two new grants this year. The RCPA Foundation Illumina Cancer Research Grant has been established with generous support from Illumina, to support Fellows and Trainees undertaking a research project involving cancer genetic molecular pathology. This rapidly evolving eld has been revolutionised by the technological advances made by companies like Illumina and we look forward to further advances coming as a direct result of this donation.
The RCPA Foundation RCPA Quality Assurance Programs Research Grant has been established with the generous support of the RCPA QAP to support Fellows and Trainees undertaking a research project involving the development and interpretation of Quality Assurance Programs. This award reminds us all that the quality of our results is paramount and the development of new programs in emerging technologies is required to derive maximum bene t as we translate research into diagnostics.
The addition of these two new research grants brings us to a total of seven awards, all overseen by the RCPA Foundation Board and administered with the kind support of the College executive and staff. All this is made possible by our supporters, both corporate and individual who are ensuring the continued advancement of the science of pathology. On behalf of the Foundation Board, grant recipients and the College, thank you to all our supporters. The RCPA Foundation seeks your continued support by direct donation or via a bequest to help further the opportunities that the RCPA Foundation can provide to assist advances in the science of pathology.
