                Review of Operations
of Education and Assessment often seeks input from AC members on curriculum reviews. The contributions of the ACs is of great signi cance to the major committees and Board of Directors.
Committees
Committees that cover speci c areas include: Informatics, Cancer Services and Lay Committee. All committees are active and review and produce College policy documents as part of their brief. In the past year the Lay Committee produced an excellent trifold brochure providing consumers with information about pathology tests which is ideal for distribution to collection centres.
State and Regional Committees
State and Regional Chairs and Committees have a major role in the organisation and running of examinations in their areas which is of immense value to the College. All State and Regional Chairs are members of the Council Committee which meets annually to consider and direct future strategic planning for the College. Under the guidance of each State/Regional Councillor Annual General Meetings are held. State and Regional Chairs are a valuable resource for Fellows and Trainees alike, opening up lines of communication on local and general issues.
Faculties
Currently there are three College Faculties:
Faculty of Science:
The Faculty’s training program continues to develop, with BEA-approved modi cations made to the research requirements. Applications for Fellowship by Examination and by Research are steady, while Fellowship pathways by Scienti c
Achievement, and via Pathology Informatics, are now available.
Faculty of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology:
The College continues to engage with the Dental Councils and Boards of Australia and New Zealand and was assessed in April 2018 for re-accreditation of the Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology program in both countries. The nal report was highly favourable.
Faculty of Clinical Forensic Medicine:
The College has developed a comprehensive and innovative training program in Clinical Forensic Medicine and has begun to accredit training sites and identify prospective trainees. The Faculty Committee is focussing on development of guidelines and standards for professional practice and ensuring access to continuing professional development opportunities.
AMC Accreditation
In late 2016 the College underwent AMC accreditation with the AMC team visiting various sites across Australia and New Zealand as well
as interviews with Fellows, Trainees and the Administration team at the College.
Following the College’s 2017 Annual Progress Report, the AMC responded that ‘overall the College has made extremely good progress in the rst year since its accreditation assessment and is congratulated on the signi cant work that has been undertaken across a broad range of areas’.
In August 2018, the College report to the AMC will state that all conditions are being met within, and in many cases substantially in advance of, the required timeframes.
