The Champion of Champions competition brings together win-
ners of licenced tournaments, who can enter one category - singles,
pairs, triples or rinks with the winners in each of these going on to rep-
resent Ireland in next years world championships in Belgium in 2021.
In the singles Joe Beattie (Armagh), who eventually came through.
In the final he met the youngest competitor Jamie West who represented
Monaghan in the junior interzone. It looked for a good part of the game

tional. Unfortunately, when Beattie lay 3 shots with 2 ends to go to take From
Seamus Kyne
the lead Jamie panicked a little losing bowls with driving shots to give Seamus Kyne
Beattie the opportunity to win the end, take the lead and go on to take the title 10 -7.
In the pairs Robbie Foster and Tom Lithgo met Paul Duff in what was an excellent final
which went to the last bowl. The lead changed virtually every end with veteran Tom Lithgo play-
ing in his first final particularly impressive. It was 9 - 9 going into the last end with Foster picking
up the crucial shot to win 10 - 9.
The triples saw Alan Irwin’s triples win their semi-final 8 - 2 against Mark Beattie and Mark
Sproule comfortably winning his semi-final against John Carson 8 - 1. The final was again a
closely contested affair with neither triple able to pull away Like the pairs it went to the last bowl
with Sproule, Corrigan and Campbell coming through 8 - 6.
In the rinks the final between Irish internationals, John Quinn and Gerry McCabe was ex-
pected to be a classic but as is often the case it proved to be a one-sided affair. The McCabe
rink never got into the game and while they did not concede more than 1 shot per end, they
only won 1 end with a single shot. The Quinn rink with 3 internationals in Alan Paul, Stuart Mc-
Sorley and Alan Laughlin came through 8 - 1.
