Group 6 saw the points nicely shared

about, but even so both Snow White and
3 Dwarfs and Brockdish were through be-
fore they played the final group game
against one another. Despite only being
on 4 points each they both had enough
shots to be ahead of the rest of the group.
In the end Snow White won to top the
group.
In Group 7, it was a similar story to
Fab Four Finalists Group 6, with one game to play 4 teams
Fab Four Finalists
Craig Hearn, Neil Jolly, Jason Ellis were on 4 points. Chelmo already had
Craig Hearn, Neil Jolly, Jason Ellis
and Rebecca Hearns enough shots to have qualified while M J
and Rebecca Hearns
+ 2 would need one shot to also go
through. In the end they did that and more as they won the game and the group. In Group 8, Lit-
tleportions, on 6 points, and NOMADS, on 5 points were though as they went into their game
against one another, which NOMADS won to finish top of the group.
In the First knockout Round the Wantabies lost to The Repair Man 6 - 7. In a lower scoring
game, Brockdish beat the Family Four. In a close match, Tequila Mockingbird got the better of
Chelmo 7 - 6. Meanwhile Little Portions had a comfortable 9 - 5 victory over Snow White and
the 3 Dwarfs. M J +2 edged past Bowled over 5 - 4. 3 of Hearts and the Joker were in crushing
form with a 14 - 3 win over Nomads. Sneaky Weasels duly sneaked past Steve and GB 7 - 4.
Completing the round Jack Smackers beat Team Thatch 6 - 4.
In the Quarter finals, Jack Smackers once again were victorious in eliminating the Repair
Man 6 - 4. Brockdish undid the Sneaky Weasels 6 - 4. Littleportions also progressed 6 - 3 over
M J +2. The final match saw the 3 of Hearts and the Joker easily eliminating Tequila Mockingbird
8 - 2. In the Semi-finals, Jack Smackers continued on their merry way with a convincing 8 - 3
win over the Littleportions. 3 of Hearts and the Joker were in demolishing form against the Brock-
dish team running out 17 - 3.
In the Final, Jack Smackers (Tom, Pete & Rita Runnacles and Neil Tuckey) v 3 of Hearts
and the Joker (Neil Jolly, Jason Ellis and Craig & Rebecca Hearn). On the first end Smackers
were holding but although the opposition woods are lined up just behind Neil Tuckey can't move
the jack back and Jack Smackers lead 2-0. On the next end no one wants to much trouble the
jack, until Tom moves it to the opposition and the gap closed to 2-1.
End 3 was a much better end all around this time with barely a wood out of place. Neil was
holding, blocks and forces Tom down the other side, he pushes the jack out but only cuts it down
from 3 to 2. So, 3-2 to 3 of Hearts. The following end was much the same again but this time
the blockers don't work and Tom gets in to rescue the head with his last wood and it was all-
square at 3-3.
On 5, two excellent openers from Pete Runnacles forces the opposition to move the jack.
Which they do, off the mat! Jack Smackers are back in the lead at just the right time, 5-3. With
the jack back in the box and down two shots Tom Runnacles finds the draw that the rest of his
team had been searching for to take shot with his last wood, Neil can't reach it and Jack Smack-
ers win the final 6-3.
Six Counties Charity Teambowl
Six Counties Charity Teambowl
Norfolk CBA hosted the ECCBA Six Counties Charity Teambowl at Littleport Leisure Centre.
The competition involved the six Eastern Counties, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hert-
fordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Each county was represented by four singles, four pairs and four
triples, each playing one seven end game against each of the other counties.
Suffolk were aiming to win the Teambowl for the sixth consecutive year but having finished
runners up in the Six Counties at the same venue last year, a much-improved team performance
would be needed.
