The Ann Hollingworth Triples competition was
the first Open Competition of the season at
the National Sports Centre with Seamus
Whelan, Chris Holland & Collin Holland taking
the title in a Round Robin due to depleted
Teams taking part, with holidays and a bout
of sickness going round the Island.
The eventual champions had a tough
Winners Seamus Whelan, start against Eddie Brew, James Teare &
Chris & Collin Holland Harry Minor which went down to the wire, with
Holland's team coming out 6-4 victors. David
Cottier, Michael Collister & Stephen Gale were convincing 17-3 winners in the other game against
Katlyn Moore, Georgine Moore & Josh Ffrench. In the second round of games Holland's team de-
feated Ffrench's side 11-3 to keep their 100% record. Gale's trio also won their game against the
Minor's triples 11-2 to face a showdown for the title against Holland's team.
The final round of games saw Gale's side take an early lead but a run of 4 ends without reply
for Holland saw them stretch out a 4 point lead. However Gale came back on the penultimate end
with a 4 to level the scores going into the last end and with Michael Collister holding the shot it
was up to Holland to promote his own bowl just enough which he did to take the shot and the title.

Josh Ffrench & Stephen Gale successfully defended
their 2 Bowl Pairs title last Sunday at the NSC with
a superb display of bowling throughout the day to
take their 3rd title in 4 years in the event.
Ffrench & Gale started the day against Richard
Faragher & Chris Holland who fought back from 8-3
down to 8-7 before a the eventual champions sealed
it on the last end, winning 10-7. Eddie Brew & Harry
Minor also scored an impressive victory with an 11-
3 win over Seamus Whelan & Collin Holland.
With the competition being played as a round-
robin Ffrench & Gale then came up against Brew & Winners Stephen Gale
Minor and thanks to a great start, stretching out to a and Josh Ffrench
7-0 lead they ran out 13-8 winners to keep their
100% record. James Teare & Georgina Moore played their first game of the day, beating Whelan
& Holland 8-5.
In the third round of games Ffrench & Gale continued their dominance with a 25-1 victory
over Moore & Teare before Brew & Minor kept their chances alive with an 11-3 win over Holland
& Faragher. Ffrench & Gale went into their final game in round four knowing a draw against Whelan
& Holland would be enough to defend the title but they weren’t going to get an easy ride as they
found themselves 9-7 down with 2 ends to play. Thanks to a 2 on the penultimate end made the
scores level before Josh Ffrench but up two great leads on the final end, resulting in a 4 for the
champions and the title. Chris Holland & Richard Faragher beat James Teare & Georgina Moore
10-6 to leave Eddie Brew & Harry Minor needing at least a draw in their final game to take second
spot, which they had no problem doing with a 16-4 victory
