TOORAK TOURNAMENT 15
TOORAK TOURNAMENT
It seemed at one stage of the Two-bowl Singles
semi-finals that Des Seymour had the edge over Brian
Latham. However, from 2 - 5 down Brian went on a run
scoring six shots over four ends to take an unassailable
8 - 5 victory with an end still to play.
The other semi-final saw Brenda Woodman facing
Bob Stock who led 5 - 2 after five ends but Brenda did
exactly the same as Brian Latham and scored six shots
over four ends for the same 8 - 5 victory with an end
still to play. An intriguing final beckoned but was not to
be as Brenda took complete charge from the beginning
with five straight singles and ended up as Singles
Champion by 8 - 1 with two ends remaining.

ally settled this game with Bridget & Brab scoring eight
shots over three ends to lead 10 - 3. Ray & Paul did
stage a fightback but ran out of ends as Bridget & Brab
won 12 - 8. Amazingly, the same scoreline settled the
other semi-final as well. Val & Brian Latham started well
against Malcolm Moon & Des Seymour with a single
and a three.
However, by end six Malcolm & Des led 7 - 4 only
to see Val & Brian strike back with a four to lead 8 - 7.
At that point Malcolm & Des found another gear and
took the next three ends for a 12 - 8 victory.
In the final Bridget & Brab Hallowes got off to a
flyer and by end four led 8 - 1. Malcolm Moon & Des
Seymour clawed their way back into the game and with

just one end to go they were 7 - 9 down and with
everything still to play for but they only managed
a single on a very tense last end to lose narrowly
by 9 shots to 8.
In the Triples Semi-finals Val Duery, Val &
Brian Latham took no prisoners in their game and
ran out 8 - 1 winners over Linda Vince, Bridget &
Brab Hallowes. In the other semi-final Malcolm
Moon, Jean Edwards & Eric Doel were in ab-
solutely devastating form and had a thirteen shot
run over four ends, finally winning 16 - 2.
Sadly they were not able to reproduce this
form in the final and try as they might they just
