“I’m a forensic investigator, not a
forensic accountant. It’s the other side
Introducing of the coin. They work heavily with
the accounting and bank statement
Forensic analysis, and I work with the rest:
Investigator finding the bank accounts, corporate
shells, hidden real estate, art, boats,
planes, and high-end automobiles.”
What kind of skills do you need to do
financial investigations?
- Master Research public records;
- Master public and investigation databases;
- Data management and analysis with spreadsheets;
- Knowledge of charting software so you can present the findings;
-Basic Accounting;
- Legal knowledge specifically related to asset recovery; and
- Being able to write a good report.
All learnable skills by anyone. You don’t necessarily need a background in accounting or law, but you
definitely need to master researching public records through the County Recorder’s Offices, as well
as Court Index Searches (Pacer & other Courts) and investigative databases (IRB, IDIcore, etc.).
