Evaluate ventricular wall motion, ejection fraction; primarily used to monitor cardiotoxicity during chemotherapy
No caffeine morning of exam

Lung scan (VQ scan)
Diagnosis of pulmonary embolism; can be used to diagnose regional perfusion prior to lung reduction surgery
Patient needs chest X- RAY done within
24 hours of lung scan
30 minutes
Brain SPECT
Evaluation of CVA cerebral ischemia, brain death
1 hour
Cisternography
Evaluating CSF leaks, lumboperitoneal shunts; diagnosing normal pressure hydrocephalus
Initial lumbar puncture 1 hour; delayed images at 2, 6 and 24 hours, 30 minutes each time (48 and 72 hour images might also be needed).
Ventricular shunt study
Evaluation of ventricular shunt potency
1-2 hours
MIBG study (neuroectodermal/ norepinephrine study)
Identi cation of tumors in neuroectodermal tissues
Cease breastfeeding until further notice
Call Nuclear Medicine department for prep and scheduling
instructions
Initial injection 15 minutes; delayed images at 24-48 hours; 1 hour scan
