Exam time
Leukocyte study (tagged WBCs) In-111 or Tc99m-Ceretec
Detection of abscesses; injection in soft tissue, skeleton; evaluation of in ammatory bowel disease and FUO
Cease breastfeeding until further notice
Patient has blood drawn in morning; white cells reinjected at noon
After injection In-111;
1 hour scan at 6, 24 and possibly 48 hours Tc99m; 1 hour scan at 4 hours
Gallium study
Detection of chronic infection and FUO; detection and localization of tumors
Cease breastfeeding until further notice
15 minutes for initial injection; return at 24 hours for 1 hour scan; possibly return at 48 and 72 hours
Lymphoscintigraphy
Identi cation of sentinel node in melanoma and breast cancer
Surgery scheduled same day
1-4 hours
Detection of neuroendocrine tumors
Cease breastfeeding until further notice
Well hydrated day of exam; stop octreotide
Tx 2 days prior to exam
15 minutes initially for injection; 1 hour scan at 4 and 24 hours
