corporate function serving the needs of all MHCC subsidiaries in the areas of: Property/Casualty insurance management; facility and physician Professional/General Liability coverage through its subsidiary insurance company, McLaren Insurance Company, Ltd. (“MICOL”); Professional/General and other casualty claim administration and litigation management; Risk assessment and education; and support regarding medical/legal issue decision making.

1. Provide financial and other pertinent data necessary to measure risk exposures and maintain insurance coverage.
2. Provide support for Medical Staff through communication of MHCC sponsored insurance coverage with “MICOL”. Provide access to Medical Staff through departmental meetings to provide captive program information.
3. Cooperate with the Department and designated defense counsel in the investigation of claims including gathering records and assisting with staff interactions.
4. Notify Corporate Insurance and Risk of significant incidents and claims and other medical/legal or clinical issues requiring risk management or legal advice.
1. Recommend best risk financing alternative to achieve broadest coverage at least cost.
2. Communicate with staff and assess coverage needs, provide quotations and other coverage documents, effect coverage and internally administer program.
3. Maintain regular communication with subsidiary leadership regarding status of claims and litigated matters. Manage outside counsel in a cost effective manner.
4. Facilitate resolution of patient/visitor claims in an equitable and expeditious manner. Provide guidance on policy creation with the goal of minimizing risk of loss to persons or property.
