Program Facts
• On-site biomedical staff typically remain as currently assigned, with dedicated technicians physically located at each of the MHC hospitals.
• Additional service and clinical engineering support staff will be added to the program based upon customer needs, equipment mix and identified cost saving opportunities.
• The number of separately identified pieces of clinical equipment inventoried by MCES exceeds 44,000, and includes everything from MRI systems to patient thermometers!
• Equipment service histories, inspection schedules and related information is kept on a central database. Should you ever need detailed reports related to equipment maintenance, call MCES. NOTE: Equipment inventory and service summary reports are sent to each department twice per year.
• Requests for in-house and/or external vendor service can be made by using EASYNET (web access to our work order request system), or by calling the MCES service center at 810 342-4300 Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For emergency response after hours, contact your hospital operator and have the biomed on call paged,
• All existing clinical equipment service contracts and related vendor services will be managed by MCES. MCES will evaluate cost effectiveness of existing vendor service agreements and may switch to alternate service methods, where deemed cost effective and appropriate for the corporation.
• Maintenance service provided by the equipment manufacturer on newly purchased equipment during warranty will be monitored by MCES.
• All vendor service reports and related invoices for repair and maintenance on covered clinical equipment must be forwarded to Clinical Engineering for processing.
