Tax Preparation Market is Huge – and Growing
The IRS processes more than 150 million
individual tax returns annually, a number
that is expected to rise, according to IRS
estimates. But here’s what makes the tax
preparation industry profitable: Tax forms
and tax filing can be so intimidating that
more than 60 percent of taxpayers pay for
professional tax preparation services.
No surprise, then, that the tax preparation
industry enjoys steady annual growth. As
an Insurance Agent, you have several
plusses in your favor through your existing
business.
It’s likely, for instance, that almost all of your
competitors offer the same types of products
that you do. But it’s unlikely that many offer
tax preparation. You probably also already
have the infrastructure – such as a printed
or electronic newsletter – to communicate
with your insurance clients. Insurance
services dovetail well with tax preparation in
the minds of clients.
