REFLECTION of Identity and theme "Diary diary..." presents an important moral lesson: that one should not be an empty shell. This means that people people should not be defined by ideas that have not been empraced by themselves. This lesson comes from the fact that being a complete or "full shell" ensures that one's identity is truly who one is and not just a reflection of other people. This, of course, means being a human being, since it demonstrates to the outside world. The moral lesson can be betterly seen through the analysis of the contrast between characters, especialy Megan, Mark and Leo's mom. The first one of them is an "empty shell", since she only guides her behaviour by the ideas that other people propose to her; it is beacuase of this that she rejects Leo. The second character is the complete oposite, since he does not even question the environment in which he lives, he just permits that it guides his actions. For Mark it is better to live in a useless system than to question it. Finally, the character of Leo's mom represent a "full shell", since she is able to question, to the appropiate extent, the context in which she lives, to point of helping Leo in his journey through life.
