The track day is over. The new 911 GT3 RS has run
flawlessly all day long. We’ve improved on our personal best by almost 1 second. No difference in the performance of the vehicle could be detected throughout the entire day. Even the tyres have not worn down excessively. How is that possible?
The standard brake system features six-piston aluminium brake calipers with red paint finish on the front axle and four- piston aluminium brake
calipers on the rear
axle.
Their monobloc construction (also known as fixed-caliper construction) is a key feature. The housing of the monobloc brake caliper also serves as the brake carrier. This means there are brake pistons on both sides
of the brake disc. In comparison with the floating brake caliper often used by other manufacturers, this construction offers enormous advantages, especially in demanding conditions
on the racetrack. The high level of rigidity, which results from the construction, ensures very good pressure point behaviour even under extreme loads, while also providing high resistance to fading.
The brake discs have a diameter of 380 mm at the front and rear. Thanks to their two-part design with aluminium brake calipers, they reduce the weight and therefore the un-sprung and rotary masses. They are also
