Lincoln Square– Location of intense fighting as the Union
Army retreated through Gettysburg toward Culps’s Hill and
Cemetery Ridge. Retreating soldiers set up barricades at points
in an attempt to slow the Confederate advance and give their
units more time to escape.
David Wills House-8 Lincoln Square -$7 if interested . David
Wills was a prominent lawyer who was deeply involved in the
cleanup after the battle. Lincoln stayed here before delivering his
Gettysburg Address. The Wills House tells the story of David
Wills, Lincoln and the Gettysburg Address. The museum fea-
tures six galleries, including two rooms that have been restored
to their 1863 appearance; and the bedroom where Lincoln stayed
and prepared to deliver the Gettysburg Address.

Peruse wine-related merchandise, and then take a bottle with you
to enjoy after a long day in America’s best small town. If you’re
at the square in Gettysburg, walk down the sidewalk of Route 30
West for a half-block and the shop will be on the right side.
