The Outreach Committee’s Awards Subcommittee met on September 14, 2018. The Outreach
Committee approved the award recommendations on October 5, 2018. The Board of Governors
approved the recommendation on November 10, 2018.
The recipients were awarded at the LSBA Midyear Meeting on January 19, 2019.

Leah Hipple McKay Award
The recipient of the LSBA Leah Hipple McKay Award for Outstanding Volunteerism is selected
annually from among the LSBA Citizen Lawyer Award recipients. It will be awarded by the
Association at the LSBA Annual meeting.
The Louisiana State Bar Association's (LSBA) Leah Hipple McKay Memorial Award for
Outstanding Volunteerism is the premier award of the LSBA's Citizen Lawyer Awards program.
The award is named in honor of the late Leah Hipple McKay, a member of the LSBA and a
deeply committed volunteer. The award is presented to a Louisiana lawyer or judge who has
made significant long-term volunteer contributions. The Board of Governors created this award
in honor of Leah's considerable civic involvement and invaluable service provided to the LSBA
during her husband Michael W. McKay's 2004-05 presidency.
The Outreach Committee’s Awards Subcommittee met on February 4, 2019. The Outreach
Committee approved the award recommendations on March 15, 2019. The Board of Governors
approved the recommendation on April 26, 2019.
Jasmine N. Brown, Blue Williams, LLP was awarded the Leah Hipple McKay award at the
LSBA Annual Meeting on June 6, 2019.
Member Benefits
The Department has assumed the role of prescreening member benefit offers and making
recommendations to the Board of Governors regarding whether the LSBA should offer the
benefits to members. The Department will evaluate all member benefits offered by the LSBA to
access members’ usage and satisfaction. The Department also will explore more benefit offers
that will assist members that have more specialized needs.
