The Member Outreach and Diversity Department (hereinafter referred to as the “Department”)
was formed January 10, 2008. The Department and the LSBA Committee on Diversity in the
Legal Profession (hereinafter referred to as the “Diversity Committee”) have been extremely busy
implementing the programs and initiatives proposed by the Board of Governors and the Diversity
               Committee.

The Diversity Committee is responsible for establishing initiatives and programs to accomplish
the LSBA’s Strategic Plan’s Goal 3, which is to ensure that the “LSBA provides the foundation
for a supportive and collegial community of legal professionals.” That goal encompasses the
diversity and inclusion goals for the LSBA and implicitly means that the LSBA will encourage
and foster racial, ethnic, gender, geographic, generational, sexual orientation, and disability
diversity as well as inclusiveness in the bar and in the legal profession.

Outreach to Local and Specialty Bar Associations
The Member Outreach and Diversity Department provides staff assistance to the Diversity
Committee, which is a standing committee of the LSBA. Additionally, the Department supports
efforts to develop and implement co-sponsored activities with local and specialty bar associations
to enhance the LSBA’s profile with and provide services to attorneys throughout Louisiana in
order to generate inclusiveness. The local and specialty bar associations are as follows:
