This delivery option also supports our ‘blended learning’ approach with the new Online Academy giving learners the choice to marry ‘on-the-job’ experience with virtual classroom learning and independent learning.
SHS Online Academy
The SHS Online Academy was launched in May with a phased rollout across our Group sites.
You can now access and complete a wealth of mandatory and developmental training courses at a time that suits you.
A ‘How to’ guide is available to download on the Larder. This will help you navigate your way through the Academy and identify courses best suited to your learning needs.
Leadership Development
A key part of our HR People Plan is building leadership capability across the Group. With this ambition we are delighted to have been able to deliver this virtually. Our senior leadership programme has been distilled into two-hour sessions, using breakout rooms to facilitate participative learning. The one-to-one coaching sessions are delivered by zoom, enhancing time efficiency and minimising
the travel demand. Feedback from the participants has been positive.
“Virtual training has been an excellent way to introduce more flexibility into the learning environment. In many cases, participants can choose a course that potentially would not have been an option,
if there was a travel requirement to an office location. It works well and in the main has been very professionally delivered.
I still see, in the long term, an advantage in having a mixed approach to training incorporating virtual and face-to-face communication.”

Our First Line Leader programme is also progressing at pace. All sessions are being delivered virtually with one-to-one coaching sessions available
for all learners. We have 25 participants on this year’s programme. They have completed five out of the six modules and are also prepping for their business improvement projects which will be presented to the senior team in September.
