MAKING HOPE HAPPEN
Second annual Day of Hope breaks record
For the second year in a row, Day of Hope united the entire
Santa Maria community in the fight against cancer.
On April 16, 2015, more than 50 enthusiastic teams comprised
of 400 community members took to the streets for one sole
purpose: to sell $1 special edition Day of Hope Santa Maria
Times newspapers in support of Marian Cancer Care patients
and families at Mission Hope Cancer Center. This year’s
event not only met the goal of $100,000, it far surpassed it by
raising in excess of $135,000!
For many, Day of Hope’s cause hits close to home. During
the event, countless participants were inspired to share
remarkably touching stories of how so many are affected
by cancer and the special, personal reasons for volunteer
involvement or purchasing of a Day of Hope newspaper.
Keenan Rodarte, Maggi Daane, Meggan Rodarte, Lauren Pincot,
Robert Dichmann, MD, Medical Director, Marian Cancer and Anne Rigali, sell special edition Day of Hope Santa Maria Times
Care, explains, “When patients initially come to Mission newspapers.
Hope Cancer Center they often begin their journey thinking,
‘I’m the only one.’ After starting treatment, they are always
surprised by who they encounter: friends and neighbors. Day
of Hope exemplifies how the community takes care of us, and
how our little community at Mission Hope Care Center takes
care of patients.”
The incredible success of Day of Hope would not be possible
without overwhelming support from generous event
sponsors, dedicated team leaders and participants, and a
compassionate community.
Marian Regional Medical Center, in partnership with the
Santa Maria Times, extends heartfelt thanks to all who
gave meaningful gifts of support through donations and
volunteerism.
One hundred percent of all Day of Hope proceeds are
applied to Marian Cancer Care, bringing vital programs
and services to our patients, families, and community. Even
though the event is over, you can still support local cancer
patients and families at Mission Hope Cancer Center. For
