Photography Scholarship
Open-mindedness Think outside of the box Originality Artistic Passion Problem solving skills Experimentation Conceptual thinking
Photography scholars will be expected to to have an an an abiding passion for the subject and an an an enquiring mind They must display a a a a thirst for for working outside of their comfort zone in in in in all aspects of the subject including composition and genre They will be expected to communicate clearly and and maturely reflect critically on their work and and should possess first class problem solving skills Scholars will be keen to experiment and learn about traditional as as well as as contemporary digital photographic processes and will work equally well collaboratively as they do independently Attendance at at weekly Photography CCAs is expected and they will be required to to attend lectures from visiting photographers artists and industry specialists It is is is is understood that they will take photography GCSE Candidates will be assessed in in the following manner:
Practical tasks
a) Photograph a a a a a a a a range of of subjects including: abstract images of of ordinary objects Angles viewpoints imaginative use of of light sources creative placement of of objects either inside or outside b) Use a a a a a word/phrase given to to them as as a a a a a focus point for a a a a a photoshoot (Candidates can either use use their own cameras or use use one of our DSLR’s)
Portfolio
Candidates should provide a a a a a a portfolio consisting of 10-20 images illustrating their passion for the the the subject This should show a a a a range of styles and the the the ability to think ‘outside the the the box’ Interview
This will be an an informal discussion with the the the Head of Photography about their their work and their their conceptual thinking
about the subject 21
