Campsite Review For Stonehenge
We stayed at this campsite for the summer solstice (21st June 2016). To be at Stonehenge as the sun comes up on the longest day is something we have always wanted to do, so 2016 was going to be that year!
Whilst searching for a campsite to stay at, this site popped up and was perfect for what we were looking for. They have a four day festival to celebrate the solstice, which starts on the 18th June and includes perfoamnces from local bands, a small amount of traders and a huge log re that is kept burning through the duration of the festival. The re is a great place to chill out by (Editor - although rather warm), cook your spuds, meet new people and make new friends, all whilst listening to the local bands.
The site provides a bus service between 9pm and 11pm to take you up to the stones, where you can then stay all night, until the sun comes up on the 21st. The buses then come back to Stonehenge between 5am and 7am to take you back to the campsite.
The sta at the camp site are fantastic and are out and about around the site all of the time and are easy to approach and talk to for any information you require ,they were even up at 5am to meet people o the buses from Stonehenge and welcome you back to the campsite. The whole experience made our summer solstice magical.
The campsite itself is clean and well run with good size pitches. There are some quirky Glamping Pods to hire if that’s your scene and a walk along a track from the campsite which will take you up to the visitors’ centre of Stonehenge!
