Understanding the Divine Secrets
1 Chronicles 11:19 says:
And he said, “Far be it from me, O my God, that I should do this! Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy? For at the risk of their lives they brought it.” Therefore he would not drink it. These things were done by the three mighty men.
It was definitely a “landmark sacrifice” that yielded a landmark achievement!
Sometimes in the places where “lost souls” are found we have to sacrifice our lives, time, and money just to have them saved from the kingdom of darkness. Listen to what the apostle Paul says in the book of Timothy about his life and ministry. 2 Timothy 4:6:
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.
The statement above is profound. It kept his life and ministry moving forward, as were the three generals of David. The three generals went and broke through the territory of the enemies. It was not easy; it meant the risk of “actual death”. It was actual death because what took the entire army of Israel to achieve in a long
