Not only strong and dependable, this knot, when
tied correctly, never jams. Because weight applied
to the standing part pulls the rope in a straight line,
the breaking strength is not diminished by the round
turn and two half hitches. It is useful for securing
one end of a rope when the other end will be used
to fasten down bulky objects. You will find this knot
useful in camping and boating as well as climbing.

Take the working end of the Tie two half hitches (see page
rope around an object in a full 23) in the working end. Re-
round turn. member to tighten the first half
hitch before tying the second.
