Living on campus comes with many pros and
many cons for first years. This decision requires
an assessment of priorities: do you want to
cook? Do you need tutors? Do you already
know people at the university? And many other
questions need to come into play, as every
residence has different offerings.
illage 1
Pros
Village 1 offers a variety of room offerings, such as
private, double and interconnected. The cafeteria
has long hours that offer a variety of good options.
The residence offers a good sense of community,
plenty of study spaces, and living-learning
communities.
Cons
The cons of Village 1 are mainly in the building
design; the washrooms are a shared space, there is
not much natural lighting in the bedrooms and
proximity to neighbours means that sometimes there
are noise complaints. Also, the buildings that
students live in are separate from the building that
the cafeteria and laundry are in. Lastly, there is no
AC in the buildings students live in, making for very
hot, stuffy summers.
